By statistics, 5,000 Utah children and their families are affected by PANS or PANDAS! You are not alone!

WHERE DO I START?

Do you think your child might have PANS/PANDAS?

Can you answer “Yes” to at least two of the following questions?

    1. Abrupt onset of obsessive compulsive-like behaviors AND/OR severely restricted food intake?
    2. Concurrent presence of additional neuropsychiatric symptoms with similarly severe and acute onset from at least 2 of the following categories:
      1. Anxiety
      2. Emotional liability and or depression
      3. Irritability, aggression, and/or severe oppositional behaviors
      4. Behavioral (developmental) regression
      5. Sudden deterioration in school performance
      6. Motor or sensory abnormalities
      7. Somatic signs and symptoms including sleep disturbances, enuresis, or urinary frequency
    3. Your child has not been diagnosed with another Neurologic or medical disorder for which he/she is already being treated and is the reason why they have the above symptoms (examples include Sydenham chorea, systemic lupus erythematosus, Tourette disorder, etc.).

If you answered “Yes” to at least two of the questions in the self-screening above, consider contacting Dr. Chuck Edgington, a Utah based licensed clinical psychologist and pediatric neuropsychologist. He has developed a screening form, which can be found below.

About Us

Since 2018 our family has felt the devestating effects of PANS. Our son began to show increases in the number and intensity of seemingly unexplainable psychiatric symptoms. This happened at the same time that he was also getting sick frequently.

Eventually this led to suicide attempts and a stay in an in-patient mental health facility.

Our journey has been exhausting and we have sought out experts wherever we could find them. We did a brain scan at Amen Clinics, met with Dr. Bock, a world leading brain inflammation expert, conducted hundreds of tests, and worked with Dr. David Voss, a Utah doctor on the PANS/PANDAS Physician’s Network.

We are happy to share our story, and to hear yours! We felt so alone during our journey, which continues. No one should feel the desperation and helplessness that comes from this debilitating condition. We continue to have struggles. Our other kids have PTSD from what they have heard and seen. We have PTSD and suffer from anxiety whenever we hear loud noise, screaming, or one of us leaves the house. But things are improving, slowly, day by day.

In the past few years we have connected with other families going throughs similar situations. It has been incredibly rewarding and comforting!

We’d love to connect with you!
